Looking for your next great vacation destination? Cabo San Lucas, located on the Pacific side of Mexico, should be on your short list of places to go – it is luxurious, there is so much to do and the food (especially the fresh seafood) is amazing.
As soon as you land at Los Cabos International Airport, your journey will begin. Outside the airport you will be greeted by dancers dressed in traditional Mexican costumes ready to give you a preview of the good times to come. Although the vibe is fun, it is not as raucous as it’s party-hearty cousin to the east, Cancun. Think high-end champagne instead of a cold beer, and you will have the right mindset for your luxurious vacation.
Where to Stay
There ae so many beautiful hotels that will fit every price point in Cabo. Everything from small boutique hotels to ultra-exclusive casitas are up for grabs. The Grand Solmar Rancho San Lucas Resort is a new resort on the very tip of the peninsula with amazing views, amazing amenities and delicious food. There are several restaurants to choose from casual poolside dining to their signature restaurant, Anica which serves more sophisticated faire.
Grand Solamar Rancho San Lucas has made staying on property easy with multiple pools, water activities, golf and an amazing spa. Guests also have the opportunity to visit their sister location, Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort and Spa located about 20 minutes down the road to take advantage of their amenities, as well.
What to Eat
I can’t say enough about the food in Cabo. It is fresh, good and readily abundant. Take advantage of the fresh seafood offered everywhere – most times it is caught and served the same day. Also, try wines from the nearby Guadalupe Valley (Mexico’s wine country) or have a flight of Mezcal and remember – vacation calories don’t count.
What to Do
Cabo is known as a great sport fishing destination with large marlin and tuna at the ready. Anything you catch can be cleaned and prepared for your next meal at many of the restaurants in the marina or at your hotel.
Shopping in downtown Cabo San Lucas is a mix of traditional mercados selling Mexican artesanias, as well as high-end boutique shopping. There are many places with one of a kind items, but prepare yourself for a bit of sticker shock when you see the prices (and remember that Cabo caters to an affluent crowd).
Cabo is a great location to perfect the art of doing nothing. Check into one of the many luxurious spas or pull up a lounge chair and watch the waves roll in.
A visit to Cabo isn’t complete without a visit to the iconic El Arco, part of the Land’s End formation. The marina in downtown Cabo San Lucas is an easy place to charter a boat and get out on the open water. Get your camera ready – the views once you are out on the water are amazing.
