3 Ways to Elevate Your Chingona Status in 2020

You are already a strong confident woman, but you want to go the extra mile when entering into the new decade. I get it and definitely don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, either. More than 50% of people fail at their resolutions, so these are changes in how we think and treat ourselves. I have curated a list of three easy (and free) ways to elevate your Chingona status. Basics and haters beware: we’re all going to be Chingona now.

Focus

We all have goals we want to accomplish this year. Put your head down and focus on HOW you are going to get there. The easiest way to do this is by taking a little time to yourself (put away your phone and cut the noise) to map out your strategy. Check in with yourself on a regular basis and keep in mind that it will be the small steps that propel you forward. Just try to be 1% better than you were yesterday and eventually all those little things will add up to one huge accomplishment.

Cut Out the Pendejos and Pendejadas

This one is hard, because it’s not easy to say no. Figure out who or what is stealing from you and walk away. Is your phone stealing endless hours as you mindlessly scroll? Is it the temptation of too much food or a friend who does nothing but complain? Your time, physical and mental energy are precious – don’t let anyone or anything steal them from you. The mental energy you are putting into the negative things in your life could be spent on yourself. Imagine where you could be if you cut out everything that is no longer serving you.

Realize that YOU are La Mera Mera

People matter, but their opinions of you don’t. Your mom, abuela, tias and friends will ALWAYS find someone to talk about. They may say things about you to your face or behind your back, but what matters is that what they are saying is an opinion – not a fact. The fact is: what you believe is best for you is actually what matters. Life isn’t like social media, and your self-worth isn’t determined by other people’s “likes” of how you are living it.

Trust in who you are and what you are doing and remember, you will never please everyone in your life….it is literally impossible. Don’t spend your precious time and energy trying.
